Quinn Sullivan: Wide Awake

We had the privilege and honor of covering Quinn Sullivan twice before as a precocious 12 and then 18 year old opening for the legendary Buddy Guy during his long and rewarding apprenticeship with the blues master. Now, the still very young gun has hit adulthood in full stride on his latest full length LP Wide Awake that is opening the eyes of all who take the time to give it some ear. There is no doubt that Sullivan is an heir to the blues guitar throne but his lineage moves him more in the direction of a John Mayer than Joe Bonamassa. Why? Because Quinn has tapped into widespread commercial appeal that is able to transcend genres and time zones. Consider our two favorite tracks on the record - "All Around The World" and "In A World Without You" and you'll see why Quinn is mining hallowed territory where giants like Clapton and Santana once roamed. These two Hall of Fame acts brought Sullivan on the road with them at points along the way and lessons were learned there that now find Quinn positioned at the head of his class and making music that excels in several disciplines.
